After Noel with Kai (her dog) finally picked me up at the airport yesterday we made our way to St. Augustine to wile away the rest of the afternoon, evening. I would say St Augustine reminded me a lot of Old Town San Diego, which of course really made me crave good mexican food. Why do all beach towns remind me of other beach towns? However, I have yet to actually see the beach...this must be remedied but not until this weekend. *sigh*
This morning I was awoken by the sounds of a torrential downpour and thunder. I thought my hopes of a nice warm, sunny vacation were dashed but the sky started to clear up around noon. Yay! I thought that I would enjoy the weather and walk from Noel's apartment to the UF campus. An hour or so later I made it to the middle of campus and was in desperate need of water and a seat. Fortunately I was looking for a library to get some work down while Noel was in class and lab and was able to find both. The UF campus is huge (one of the top five largest in the country). It reminds me a bit of Davis with the trees, the quad and the absolute flatness. I've actually spent a good portion of my day reminiscing about my Aggie days instead of working on my Judges work (yes Brandeis is the Judges. and ironically I'm trying to write a paper for my law class...fitting).
Blessed is the sun and, while I had never really thought of it before, the humidity! My skin doesn't know what to do with itself now that I don't need to slather on the lotion every hour! While I think Florida is much too flat for my tastes I wouldn't mind going to school where I could where flip flops almost everyday again! Oh well! Only a couple of more months to go! And besides, I have to get used to the idea that I will no longer be able to wear flip flops to any potential job I might have, unless I move to Hawaii...hmmmm Hawaii....
Right so back to the travel portion of this blog. Tonight we're off rock climbing. We'll see how my healing finger will do. (Don't worry Mom, I checked with Becky first!)
Hope all is well with everyone! I'll try and take a picture of a gator while I'm here!
