Mid-March found us jetting down to San Diego for a close friend's wedding. I have always loved San Diego and always enjoy my visits down there. However, for Ben, the marine layer is always in evidence and he's left wondering where the sunny, warm visions of SD come from...
Since many of our friends were traveling to SD as well and a number of our group were involved in the wedding, we found a house large enough to fit us all in Ocean Beach. The last time I was in OB it was Fourth of July and I was making a vain attempt to paddle out to the end of the pier on a longboard to watch the fireworks. A friend had to pull me past the breakers before I was able to swim out to the end. In the dark the pier seemed endless and the waters deep. In reality the pier is pretty long but the waters near the shore weren't as deep as my imagination had determined them to be. This trip I managed to get a run down to the pier but no trying to surf for me.
Ben and I did manage to squeeze in a beach walk before the insaneness of the wedding activities took up most of our weekend. Friday night most of our group was involved in the rehearsal and then everyone met up for the delicious, never ending amount of food at the rehearsal dinner. Saturday the boys went off early to surf and take pre-wedding photos and dress themselves up all smart and handsome looking.
