Noms!
The day before the wedding we headed out to Bran, first stopping in Rasnov to check out the walled fortress.
Ben says: "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!"
Then onto Bran to look at Bran Castle, used as inspiration for Dracula's castle, though Vlad may have only spent a night here while fleeing Turks. The castle was mainly used as a royal palace and it looks it. Stairs twist and turn and small rooms lead to smaller rooms. The well in the courtyard reportedly hides a secret entrance to an underground labyrinth. Apparently Nima and his family also felt inclined to visit the castle that day and we serendipitously ran into them while wandering around the castle.
Formidable, no?
Luckily we could follow them back to the Inn where everyone was staying at and the wedding party would take place. Dana's family had spent the last half year preparing meats, cheeses, jams, wines and liquors and, for us, the feasting began an hour after arrival at the inn.
In the mountains!
The drinking of palinca, wine and forest berry liquor began a few minutes after everyone sat down and continued through midnight (and that was just the pre-wedding feast). The debauchery had begun...
